i took down the web cam link... it was attached to a computer that was close
to my window, and that computer has had a bit of downtime recently. so the
link hasn't been working anyway.
anyway, on a better note, i have higher aspirations for some things right now.
those higher aspirations will probably move the computer too far from the
window for the cam to work. so i doubt it will be coming back in the near
future... but we'll see. ;-)

i was fiddling around with my web cam a couple days ago... there's a new link
over there on the left--pauliecam--it's a live view outside the window of my
apartment. :-) it updates every 20 or so seconds, so try it out and let me
know what ya think.
i want to try to think of a way to point it down toward the street... but i'm
not really sure offhand how to do that while keeping the camera stable. i'll
see what i can think up.
if you think the image should be smaller, or positioned differently, just let
me know. i'm always open to suggestions. :-)
oh, and... amen. hehe

ok, good news. i got the new motherboard in yesterday. that was the problem,
so i'm in the process now of getting everything set up. i just have to get
all the stuff like the gallery, etc. copied over. there's a lot there, but
after i'm done testing and all that, i'll pull the plug on the old server and
switch over to the new one. if all goes well, the new server will be up by
monday evening. oh happy day!

good times. a while back i bought a new(er), fast(er) computer to replace
the current web server. (where this site resides) unfortunately, at about the
same time, my mythtv box decided to die. because of my lack of time, and
priority of servers (hehe), the new(er) web server replaced my mythtv box.
thus the web server is still its same old self.
but no more! (hopefully) i placed an order yesterday for a new motherboard
for my old mythtv computer. that should be in by the end of the week. (yay for
newegg.com!) if all goes well, i'll just
use that as my web server, since the current mythtv box is handling things
just fine. after that, some things should get much, much faster. (at least for
me, lol) if there's any downtime, it should be minimal, since i'll be building
the new box separately from the current one. all i'll have to do is just swap
a couple hard drives after it's all set up and ready. i hope to have this all
done by memorial day, so wish me some luck. :-)

well, 'allo there. it's been a while since i posted anything up here. i've been
fairly busy with school this semester and haven't had a lot of time to update
the site much. i hope to do some updates during this summer. i've started on
a couple things that i've been wanting to do for a while... one of them being
a site redesign. i don't know how much will change... i just have a few ideas
floating around in my head. but we'll see. i shall try to update if/when there
are going to be changes. :-) for now, just wish me luck on my upcoming finals.

i apologize about the downtime between last night and this evening. i had to
dig my server out of the closet to replace a hard drive. copying the
data from the bad hard drive proved more difficult than i first assumed it
would be! regardless, the site is back up again! i'm sure you're more than
overjoyed. ;-)
hopefully that should be it for a while. nothing but improvements from here
on out. lol

ok...so i didn't do my server stuff last weekend. but i'm working on it now.

just so you have a little warning... i will probably be doing some maintenance
on the server this weekend (anytime from friday night through sunday evening).
so the site may be down a lot during that time. hopefully this should all work
out fine, but i just want to give you some warning in case the site is down for
a while. :-)

ok... so i figured out the problem. i made a small design mistake, apparently.
it's fixed now, except that i have to reset all the passwords. i reset the
ones i knew (which wasn't very many)... so if you have any issues getting in,

ummm... so i busted some stuff on my server. so much for updating things. lol.
for the time being, you won't be able to log in. i will attempt to fix this
asap, but at the moment i don't know exactly what's wrong. i'll post here when

okie dokie. so i'm all moved now. i love my new place. i still have some stuff
to unpack, so that kinda sucks. i should be able to do a lot of that tonight
and tomorrow morning (hopefully). for those of you that use my server, it
should be up and running fine now. shoot me an email if you have any problems.
oh, and for those that were asking... i will try to put up some pics of my
apartment this weekend. i haven't taken any yet because it's still a mess with
all the boxes and stuff. i'm sure you understand. :-)

ok, so i went and found another apartment. it's even better than the condo that
didn't work out. :-) anyways, the server will more than likely come down this
weekend at some point (or next week sometime). just thought i'd warn those of
you that use it.
i'll find out for sure about the new place tomorrow by noon, so i'll post on
the blog what happens. wish me luck!

:-( i only have bad news now. i got approved for the condo. however, the stupid
bitch that owns it rented it out on her own without telling the apartment lady
that i was dealing with. so basically i got screwed out of this place. it's
not the apartment lady's fault at all. she was just hired to find someone to
rent the place. she did that (ME!), but the owner decided that she wanted to
find someone on her own and not tell anyone about it, i guess. grrrrrr. i'm
really disappointed because i absolutely loved that place.
so i guess this gives me a little more time. i'm probably going to take off
again next monday and look around at some more places (since i didn't really
much like any of the places i saw last time). it's going to be hard to top
the condo, but i already have a couple places in mind that could possibly do
it. :-)

ok...good news and bad news. which do you want first? ok! the good news is that
i applied for the condo that i originally looked at. i should be able to find
out about that by early next week at the latest. if i do end up taking it, then
my move out date will be april 29. no biggie, except that i'll be really busy
for the next three weeks.
now for the bad news. since i will be moving, my server
will be going down sometime in the next two weeks. it will not
return until i get my internet access at my new place, which may take up to a
week or so. when this happens, i will replace the site with a static web page
that lets you know (that way you won't be getting an error page). i will try
to keep the site up as long as possible before i move, but i make no
guarantees.
wish me luck (with both moving and finals)!

ok...so i didn't get to take any pictures of any apartments yesterday. i forgot
my camera. :-( but of the eight apartments that i looked at, only one looked
even remotely promising. ultimately, though, i think that i'm going to go with
the condo that i looked at first (which is the one that i do have pics
of. so now i'm just trying to get everything situated and moving along. i'm
waiting on a phone call to make sure that it's still available and everything.
i'll update here when i find out anything.

i went and looked at the apartment/condo yesterday afternoon. it's way cute.
i put pictures
up in the gallery if you want to take a look-see. i start taking a look at
some more apartments soon. as i look at them, i'll take pictures and upload
them to the gallery. then i have to choose one. so far, i'm really, really,
really liking this first one. it's just a little more expensive than what i
originally wanted. we'll see what happens.
google updated their
maps web site to include satellite
pictures. google rocks my world. i totally would work for them if i had the
chance. lol. oh well, i don't have a phd, so i won't get my hopes up. :-)

on another note, this weekend was kinda fun. i was supposed to be doing
homework on saturday, but other things came up. justyn and i decided to take
a road trip to
chicago. we only
stayed for the day...we left around 10:30 am from st. louis. then we
travelled to ikea. the store was pretty
amazing, but after hearing so many people speak so highly of it, i actually
had higher expectations for it. didn't stop me from spending $120 though! then
we left, went downtown and shopped the magnificent mile. we had some dinner
at bandera, and then went up into the hancock building. the chicago skyline is
really pretty at night from the 94th floor. i'd love to get an apartment up
that high. i'd really need to marry a rich somebody to get that right now.
lol. i suppose i may have to settle for a 16th floor apartment in st. louis.
sunday was pretty boring. i spent most of the early part of the day sleeping
(since we didn't get back from chicago until almost 5:00 am). we went and had
some linner (that's food between lunch and dinner, btw), and then i went home
to work on homework for the rest of the night. that really sucked. i didn't
even get it done on time. oh well. there's always next time. ok, well, i'm
done blabbing now. toodles!

happy april fool's day! now that the pleasantries are over with, i've had a
horrible week this week. stupid servers going down at work all week, talking
with microsoft tech support....grrrrr. silly school making me go there monday
thru thursday. it's just been really busy. and on top of that, i have to
finish two programming projects by monday night. ahhhhhh! (and i really should
be working on those right now...lol) oh well. procrastination is a great
quality of mine. :-)
anywayz...so i'm supposed to go look at a cute apartment in the cwe on monday.
i put a thing up on craigslist.com and got a bunch of replies...this one
actually looks really perfect. although a little bit pricier than i was
initially looking for. but i'll post pictures in the gallery after i look at
it.

i have to mention something here. i came across something earlier this
week that is quite cool. try this out: google
maps. it is super cool. and this is only a beta version! geez i love the
google. i would be so sad if they went away. or started doing evil stuff.
