election blues
Wednesday, November 8th, 2006for the republicans, that is.
quite a few of the races for the house and senate are/were extremely close, but it looks like the democrats have taken the house by a pretty solid majority. the senate is still close, but it looks like at worst it’ll be a 50/50 split. democrats also gained a lot of ground in the gubernatorial races… so good news all around.
ahhh, and big news for rumsfeld… the guy that bush said was staying at least through bush’s second term…. errrr… not so much.

looks like a lot of changes are about to happen. now let’s hope the democrats don’t royally fuck up this opportunity. this could go really well, as long as they’re not completely stupid about it. anyways, i’m a pretty happy camper right now… but we’ll see what happens over the course of the next several months.
as of right now, here are some of the tallies:
senate (1 seat still too close to call, but leaning slightly democrat)
democrats: 50 (gain of 5 seats)
republicans: 49 (loss of 5 seats)
house
democrats: 228 (gain of 28 seats)
republicans: 196 (loss of 27 seats)
independents: 0 (loss of 1 seat)
governors
democrats: 28 (gain of 6 seats)
republicans: 21 (loss of 6 seats)
and for the important amendments/propositions here in missouri:
amendment 2 (stem cell research): passing
amendment 3 (cigarette tax): failing
proposition b (min wage increase): passing
